Authorised Corporate Service Provider

CFA Accountants is a registered ACSP with Companies House

That means we are officially authorised to carry out identity verification checks on company directors and PSCs and to request their Companies House personal codes — securely and on your behalf. We can verify UK-based and overseas individuals, including people who are not currently our clients.

What is Companies House identity verification?

Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, Companies House now requires individuals to prove who they are. From 18 November 2025 this became a legal requirement — the start of a 12-month transition period in which existing directors and PSCs must verify before their company’s next confirmation statement is due.

You verify your identity once. You then receive a unique Companies House personal code that links your verified identity to every role you hold. Verification can be done directly through the GOV.UK One Login service, or — more simply — through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider such as CFA Accountants.

ℹ️ Official source: This requirement is set by Companies House. You can read the full government guidance at GOV.UK — Verifying your identity for Companies House.

Who must verify their identity?

Company directors

Every director of a UK company — new and existing, UK resident or overseas — must verify their identity and provide their personal code when filing the confirmation statement.

People with Significant Control

Anyone who owns or controls a company (a PSC), and members of LLPs, must also verify. Where you are both a director and a PSC, the code must be provided for each role.

Your personal code is not your filing code

The Companies House personal code is new and personal to you — it is different from the company web filing / authentication code already in circulation. Keep it secure, like your HMRC Unique Taxpayer Reference. You’ll need it to update your details and to make filings in the future.

Why it must be done — the risks of not verifying

Failing to verify your identity and obtain your personal code by your deadline can have serious consequences:

How CFA Accountants helps

We carry out your identity checks securely, obtain your Companies House personal code, and make sure your directors and PSCs — including overseas individuals — are verified well before any filing deadline.
